2017

Continental expands its service competencies by acquiring Custom Machining Service from the USA and Advanced Imaging Technologies from South Africa.




 

ContiTech opens new plants in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and Changshu, China.


 

Increased automation in the industry defines the technological developments of the company. ContiTech presents concepts for intelligent drive belts, air springs or rubber tracks. Systems such as the surface scanner for conveyor belts facilitate preventive maintenance and repairs.

Continental takes over the surface specialist Hornschuch and thus expands its competencies in the furniture, construction and DIY industries.

Continental takes over Vulcanite, the Australian railway engineering specialist.

To strengthen its business outside of the automotive industry, Continental is shifting its focus away from the road to start a cross-divisional off-highway initiative. The company thereby presents a broad range of products, systems and services for the construction industry, agriculture and material handling.

2015

Strengthening business outside of the automotive sector: The portfolio for automotive surfaces was significantly expanded and offers additional innovative products for various industries under the brand name Dynactiv Surfaces.




 

Innovation in Materials: For the first time, ContiTech presents the prototype of an engine mount made of natural rubber from dandelion roots.

2014

In February 2014, ContiTech reached an agreement to purchase the American company Veyance Technologies, Inc. The takeover was completed in early 2015. The Ohio-based company complements ContiTech in previously underrepresented markets such as the United States and South America.

To strengthen its competencies in plastics, ContiTech acquired the companies Inotec Innovative Technologie GmbH in Kohren-Sahlis, Germany and Präzensionstechnik Geithain GmbH in Geithain, Germany in April 2014.


 

ContiTech from Hanover further expands its drive belt business in China by taking over the business of the local manufacturer Taizhou Fuju Rubber Belt Manufacture Co., Ltd.

ContiTech acquired a developer of e-bike drives, Benchmark Drives GmbH&Co.KG, Hofheim, thus further expanding its activities in the growing market for e-bikes and pedelecs.


 

Printed electronics: ContiTech presents prototypes for a solar cell produced with flexographic printing. This technological advance was developed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems and other partners.

In October, ContiTech in Changchun, China opened a subsidiary plant for air conditioning lines, approximately 2,000 km from Hangzhou.


 

In the fall of 2014, ContiTech began building a second plant for surface materials in the Chinese city of Changzhou. In November, the company also acquired two locations of the Belgian Mecaseat group in Pamplona, Spain, and Wągrowiec, Poland.

ContiTech opens a new R&D center for mounting and vibration control technology in China.




 

A new plant producing hoses for use in oil production and gas extraction is built in Brazil.

In Subotica, northern Serbia, a production plant for hose lines is inaugurated after a construction period of just nine months.

ContiTech takes over the automotive air conditioning line business of the U.S. company Parker Hannifin Corporation, headquartered in Collierville, Tennessee.

ContiTech takes over the conveyor belt business of Tianjin Xinbinhai Conveyor Belt Co., Ltd., based in the Chinese city of Tianjin.

ContiTech is puts into operation a new state-of-the-art location in Changshu, China, for development, production, sales and administration.

ContiTech acquires the Serbian conveyor belt company Univerzal Kolubara.

The Gigabox, a unique system for rolling stock consisting of an axle box and a hydraulic spring, allows for maintenance intervals of 1 million kilometers.

Phoenix Compounding Technology (PCT) is founded. Today it is growing as a leading specialist in the development and manufacture of innovative rubber compounds.

A silicon rubber is developed for the outer layer of the expedition suit worn by Greenland explorer Robert Peroni. The material remains flexible at temperatures as low as minus 85°C and guarantees complete freedom of movement.

The acquisition of Benecke-Kaliko helps create a leading manufacturer worldwide of surface materials for automotive interiors.

Continental-Caoutchouc- und Gutta-Percha Compagnie is founded in Hanover. Production of technical rubber products and medical articles is launched. Pneumatic tires for bikes and rubber hot water bags become classics of their kind.
