Translucent Concertina Wall
Optimised Illumination of Bus Interiors Due to Transparent Composite Material ContiVitroflex
The translucent concertina wall made of the composite material ContiVitroflex has been developed as a flexible system for connecting sections of articulated buses and rail vehicles and for passenger boarding bridges at airports etc. It is made complete with fitted seals and weather-strips, is assembled and is delivered by ContiTech “ready-to-install”.
Application
Day-to-day operations place great demands on the material. When in service on the road, the wall must be resistant to all ambient conditions it may have to contend with. UV radiation, water, salt, petrol, oil and even the impact of stones must not cause any damage. It is constantly moving – something not every material can withstand. But ContiTech was able to call on its years of experience with the opaque, standard version.
And the company’s efforts were a success, as you can see in the image on the right: The new translucent concertina wall even intensifies the brightness due to its special light refraction properties and really lights up the otherwise dark interior – providing enhanced visibility and safety.
Customers can buy a ready-to-fit module, including a turntable.
