To ensure reliable installation in the case of elastic V-ribbed belts, ContiTech now also offers – alongside the tried-and-tested CONTI® ELAST TOOL KITS with disposable tool – a practical all-purpose tool good for nearly all elastic V-ribbed CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST.

This can prove a real money-saver for workshops. To change elastic V-ribbed belts on vehicles for which no CONTI® ELAST TOOL KIT with disposable tool was available, repair shops were previously forced to pay vehicle manufacturers a pretty penny for specifically designed tools. With the new CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST, repair shops now have the correct all-purpose tool readily at hand for nearly all these vehicle applications. It renders belt changes fast, easy and failsafe. The old belt can also be removed using the new tool.

Belt drives with elastic multiple V-ribbed belts do not have a belt tensioner. This means that in most cases auto mechanics have to use a special installation tool to change elastic belts. The tool stretches the belt during installation and mounts the belt on the pulley with a certain initial tension. The belt then maintains its tension independently. With other all-purpose tools or mounting techniques, one runs the risk of damaging the belt and/or the pulley. This can reduce the service life of the components and might even cause injury to the mechanic.
