ContiTech Enters the Flexo Printing Market

November 2011 ContiTech’s sets new standards in the marketplace with newly developed printing plates.

ContiTech Elastomer Coatings has added four flexo printing plates to its product portfolio. “ContiTech benefits from its wide-ranging expertise in the offset printing business and thanks to a brand-new process developed in-house, ContiTech is now in a position to manufacture flexo printing plates for flexible packaging by the roll, on an industrial scale without the use of any solvents,” explains Armin Senne, Business manager for flexo products at ContiTech Elastomer Coatings. “This gives ContiTech a crucial market edge – not just when it comes to environmental friendliness,” he adds. “Contitech is able to tailor its product to individual customer requirements, in terms of both product thickness and order size, while ensuring an outstanding price-performance ratio.”

Printing plates for all applications

With its four flexo printing plates – CONTI® Laserline CSX and CSC, CONTI®Laserline CCX for direct printing on corrugated board, and CSL coating plate – ContiTech Elastomer Coatings caters to a broad market... The CONTI®  Laserline CSC printing plate has an integrated compressible layer that does away with the need for expensive foam adhesive tapes during mounting. “Our new product range provides cost savings for printers interested in cutting out expensive adhesives,” says Senne. Both plates consist of an EPDM cover layer that can be engraved directly. This opens up a completely new range of applications.

ContiTech Elastomer Coatings has developed the CONTI® Laserline CCX with a peel-off print layer specifically for direct printing on corrugated board. The integrated compressible layer helps to minimize any washboard effect on all commonly used corrugated board types. Like its sister products, this printing plate is dimensionally stable, and offers consistency in print quality, optimal ink transfer, particularly for water-based inks, and high resolution in engraving. Designed to ensure efficient production of coating formats, the CONTI® Laserline CSL coating plate has an integrated removable layer optimized for application of the coating. This coating plate is suitable for all current coating systems, including UV ink systems. Senne makes a point of noting that “all CONTI® Laserline flexo printing plates are significantly more durable than many peer products thanks to a long service life and low abrasive wear.”
