Caterpillar, the world’s largest construction machinery manufacturer, has honored ContiTech Fluid Automotive with its bronze Supplier Quality Excellence Process Award.
During the supplier certification in the ContiTech plant Waltershausen, Germany, fields such as quality situation, delivery performance, development and sales performance, capacity planning and the Six Sigma status were audited and evaluated in accordance with a certification plan with strict specifications.
“The certificate reflects ContiTech’s impressive business ethics and the commitment to our goal of a zero-error culture amongst our suppliers,” stressed Daniel M. Murphy, Vice President Global Purchasing of Caterpillar, in the course of the certification in Waltershausen. “ContiTech thus fulfills our expectations for a world-class supplier.”
The supplier award was presented for the first time this year. The Supplier Quality Excellence Process is set up in stages. The bronze status is the beginning certification, which will be repeated each year but with increasing demands, leading to the silver and the gold status.
ContiTech Fluid Technology supplies Caterpillar with products from its entire product portfolio. ContiTech Fluid Automotive GmbH is also main development partner for new projects of the engine manufacturer Perkins, which belongs to Caterpillar. The Waltershausen plant holds a key position at Caterpillar in ContiTech’s product market segment heating/cooling/charge air, since it also makes deliveries of products from the plants in Vac, Hungary, and MGW in Hann. Münden, Germany, to the customer.
